The latest trend to hit the Internet is just bananas, literally.

With planking and condom water balloons becoming things of the past, teens have found a new way to amuse themselves - by slipping on banana peels.

Look at the bright side, at least banana peels are put to 'good use' now.

The #BananaPeelChallange, which has been trending on Twitter, involves teens filming themselves slipping on banana peels in different areas of the house

The challenge involves a person either walking or running over the banana peel without falling.

So, how did this ridiculous trend started? Twitter user Jason Oake posted a video of him trying the challenge on 27 March. The video has already been retweeted by more than 65,000 people.

He wanted to test whether banana peels are actually as slippery as cartoons would have people believe. As you can see, everything looks good until he falls off after a few seconds.

Then, others followed suit by populating the Internet with videos of them undergoing the challenge. Unsurprisingly, the results were hilarious… and painful.

Of course, there's an official Twitter account called Banana Peel Vids.

Ouch.

Is that what our generation is coming to...?

Some teens have even injured themselves in the act. We hope the retweets and likes were worth it.

And this girl might have broken her wrists.

It's not just teens who are taking up the challenge! Adults are giving it a go too.

Dear uncles and aunties, WHY?!

Whether if you're going to try out the challenge or not, don’t forget what happened to Patrick okay...

Please, don't try this at home.

Awhile back, teens tried to copy the pout of the youngest Kardashian by sucking on shot glasses and plastic bottles...

Not forgetting the condom challenge...
