Chatri Sityodtong might just be the world's best boss. The founder and chairman of Evolve MMA, a Singapore-based martial arts company, recently brought his entire team to Maldives for their annual retreat!

More than 100 employees were treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to a five-star luxury resort in Maldives. The entire trip cost Sityodtong a whoopin' USD500,000 (RM2.2 million), but he said it's a "normal part of the Evolve culture".

Sityodtong said that the company outing is just "a small token of my heartfelt gratitude to all of the phenomenal rockstars at Evolve MMA".

"The reality is that I have the best team in the world at EVOLVE. Without my team, I am nothing," he said.

He further revealed that the company has been doing this for the past five years, with employees having enjoyed free trips to luxury resorts in Bali, Krabi, Khao Lak, and Bintan.

According to Sityodtong, the company simply wants to reward its employees for achieving phenomenal growth this year despite the slowing local economy

On top of the "strong double-digit growth every year", the company has been registering 30% year-on-year growth throughout 2016. For context, Evolve MMA has consistently grown to become the top MMA camp in Asia since it was established in 2009.

The entrepreneur also added that he wishes to fulfill his employees' dreams to travel the world, as many of them do not have the means to go on expensive tours

"The vast majority of my team at Evolve come from humble backgrounds of poverty, tragedy, or adversity. As someone who survived on $4 a day in poverty, I have not forgotten my past," he said.

"It is why our pay structure is the highest in the world - bar none. For them, Evolve is the greatest opportunity to escape poverty and to achieve the life of their dreams. As a leader, I believe in expressing my sincerity and gratitude through my actions. Thank you to my EVOLVE Family for everything!"
