The Internet Just Can't Stop Making Fun Of Apple's New AirPods
Apple, the leading tech giant officially introduced the public to the iPhone 7 on 7 September. Among the pros and cons of the upgraded device, one of the most notable (and polarising) changes is that this phone won’t have a headphone jack.
The headphone jack is gone and it's being replaced with a fancy new wireless earbuds called the AirPods.
Why did Apple remove the headphone jack?
Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, offered an explanation as to why the company chose to take the dive into minimalism.
“Now, some people have asked why we would remove the analog headphone jack from the iPhone,” Schiller said. “It really comes down to one word: courage. The courage to move on, do something new, that betters all of us. And our team has tremendous courage.”
The change is very drastic, to say the least. The "courageous" move didn't sit well with many customers, even early Apple adopters.
Naturally, netizens used humour and memes to deal with these changing times.
Below are some of the best reactions from the Internet. A word of caution to Apple fanboys and girls, no chill zone ahead!
Right off the bat, people have figured out an easier and economical way to get the AirPods
Ain't nobody gonna pay hundreds of dollars for a pair of wireless earphones.
Others just can't seem to wrap their heads around Apple's noble act of "courage" to remove the headphone jack
Gotta give a quick salute to the folks at Apple for being such brave souls. The right decision isn't always the popular decision! Am I right, guys?!
Many have slowly come to terms with the fact that the new iPhone wouldn't work with any of their pre-existing headphones or other audio gadgets. Reality hurts.
The tiny, disconnected AirPods will make it so much easier for people to lose it and THAT'S NOT RIGHT
If dropping the headphone jack left a hole in your heart and your 6s, now there’s a solution: plug it with "Apple Plugs"
“This isn’t 2009. Your phone doesn’t have a floppy drive, and it shouldn’t have a headphone connector either.
When we made iPhone 6 and 6s, the world wasn’t ready for the future. Now, it is. Apple Plug is the perfect solution. Fill in your archaic headphone connector with beautiful aluminium and plug yourself into the future," the website wrote.
Damn, we can't even make that up even if we want to.
Now, you can shove a plug up your iPhone 6s' jack and pretend that it's an iPhone 7. Check out the earth-shattering innovation here.
Change is hard, Apple. Do give yourselves a pat on the back for trying something REALLY different.
