9 Things To Do With Your Family That Won't Cost You A Bomb

You don't need to fork out that much money to have a good time. Here are nine affordable things you can do with your family.

1. Kite flying and bubble blowing at Setia City Mall. You can buy kites from one of the many sellers located there. Bubble liquid bowls are sold for just RM3-4.

2. Love taking photos? Explore the heart of KL and walk through Pasar Seni, Chinatown, and Bukit Bintang. Hidden heritage gems are often discovered when you're a 'tourist' in your own city! Take the LRT.

3. Cycle in Taman Tun Datuk Ismail (TTDI) or Desa Park City. With more parks sprouting around the Klang Valley, enjoy beautiful landscapes while exercising with the family! Don't have a bike? Borrow one!

4. Read together at the Raja Tun Uda Library in Shah Alam. Want your family to read something instead of their gadgets? Bring them to a library! It's free and you and your family come out smarter.

5. Set up a craft day! Spend time with your children by embarking on little projects such as painting or reusing household items such as toilet rolls. It is easy, fun and definitely affordable.

6. Go 'jalan-jalan' in shopping malls. You don't need to buy anything aside from the parking charges ranging from RM 2-15! Just window shop, enjoy the air-cond and people watch.

7. Have rojak and cendol by the roadside on a hot day. What's amazing is that these roadside favourites are still affordable, around RM 1.50 to RM 3. Your family will love you.

8. Go to an open mic session like Merdekarya. Love the arts? Why not support local artists by watching them hone their craft. Entry is usually free although there might be a need to buy drinks.

9. Organise a movie marathon! Watch your favourite classics or download a movie none of you have watched before. Don't forget to supply the snacks.
