The automotive industry has been buzzing with activity and excitement ever since the zero-rating of the Goods and Services Tax (GST)
A tax window is now in place before the Sales and Services Tax (SST) is implemented in September.
Goods are expectedly cheaper as Malaysians jump on this rare opportunity to shop for clothes, electronic appliances, and of course – cars.
And shop for cars, Malaysians did. The numbers prove it. June 2018 was a record-breaking month for many car makers in the Malaysian market.
New Straits Times (NST) in a report on 18 July, quoted Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) president Datuk Aisha Ahmad as revealing that the total industry volume (TIV) for June 2018 has leapt 50.1% to 64,502 units from 42,983 units in May 2018.
She said June 2018 posted the highest vehicle sales this year.
