'Art in the City' is an outdoor art display that aims to raise greater awareness on the Malaysian arts and culture landscape. CENDANA is looking for local visual artists to participate in this project and help give the city a unique artistic makeover.

So if you've been looking for an opportunity to show off your artwork, now's your chance!

By taking part in 'Art in the City', you'll also be contributing to the development of Malaysia's arts scene, uplifting the visual imagery and vibrancy of KL, as well as promoting it as a creative city.

Your submission can be in the form of painting, photography, or visual design

Submit your artwork by e-mailing it to [email protected] by 9 March 2018.

Here are all the submission criteria:

  • Must be in high-resolution (300 dpi and above)
  • Include the following details: the name of the artist, whether the artists are Malaysian or of Malaysian PR status, and the name and narrative of the artwork
  • Each artist can submit up to 3 visual artworks
The artworks should also contain relevance to Malaysia in contributing diverse cultural expression and allowing engagement with audience by exposing differing perspectives, or foster increased understanding of the arts.

A selection panel will shortlist all the submissions, which will then be opened up to an online public voting from March to April 2018. The artworks with the most votes will be enlarged and displayed on top of buildings across KL!

'Art in the City' will also include various artsy on-ground events

In order to further strengthen the positioning of KL as an upcoming cultural and creative destination, there's gonna be cool stuff like mini exhibitions, art workshops, and even an art trail tour.

They'll also be collaborating with volunteer powerhouse iM4U to create vibrant street art murals and impressive art installations all around KL.
