Malaysia's First Chinese-Muslim Mosque With 100% Chinese Architectural Design

The Muhammadiah Mosque in Tasek Jaya, Ipoh, is said to be Malaysia's first Chinese-Muslim mosque with a 100% Chinese architectural design.

What is known as "Masjid Cina" to the locals is also set to be a new landmark in Ipoh. Deputy Chairman of the Ipoh Chinese Muslim Association, Hafiz Ng Abdullah, said a joint committee is now managing the holy place.

Masjid Muhammadiah Mosque takes its name from the original mosque which was founded by the late Abdul Latif Mohd Kassim along with his seven friends in March 1973.

The building was inspired by traditional Chinese architectural designs and culture

Elevated floors, large red pillars and a roof-tower decorated with green Chinese motifs, have all added to the uniqueness of the mosque's structural design and appearance.

"A closer look will reveal that we've slightly altered the designs of the roof giving it a Chinese touch, they usually use the motif of Lotus flowers but in this mosque, we used the national flower Bunga Raya (Hibiscus)."
