A unique programme in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, lets foreign tourists become "one-day students", offering a taste of the iconic school culture depicted in beloved anime and manga.

The experience, aptly named "Your High School", costs 30,000 yen (RM874) and allows visitors of any age to don sailor uniforms or suits, attend classes, and participate in quintessential school activities.

According to the Japanese daily Manichi, the programme is conducted in English and organised by Undokaiya, a company dedicated to combining cultural immersion with tourism.

From calligraphy lessons to emergency disaster drills, the schedule is packed with authentic touches.

Guests can even try traditional kimonos, wield a katana in samurai training, or join a gym class where rowdy "rebellious students" might cause playful disruptions.  

Teachers at this unconventional school come with fascinating backstories. For instance, one instructor was inspired to teach after turning his life around under the guidance of a mentor, while another draws motivation from the spirited quotes of anime.
