KL Ranks Higher Than Tokyo And Seoul In Top 10 Most Popular Cities Of 2018

The Global Destinations Index survey ranked 162 countries based on their popularity.

Kuala Lumpur has proven itself to be a popular destination for tourists by making it to a list of top 10 most visited cities of 2018

Kuala Lumpur made top 10 of the Global Destination Cities Index, a list made by Mastercard for the past decade.

This year, the survey studied visitor numbers and travel spending data of 162 countries, and also predicted where tourists will travel to next year.

Kuala Lumpur successfully took seventh place, beating other famous holiday spots such as, Tokyo, Istanbul, and Seoul

According to Condé Nast Traveler, KL is known to be an "all-around holiday destination" and has some of the best street food in the world.

The survey stated that the city attracted 12.58 million international tourists who stayed an average of 5.5 nights.

Taking first place on the list is Bangkok, Thailand, which attracted over 20 million visitors this year

For the third time in a row, Bangkok has won the hearts of tourists around the world with its mix of historical sites, modern culture, and street food.

Not to forget, the shopping!

Following closely behind Bangkok and taking second place is UK's capital city – London

With a variety of attractions and activities, it's no surprise that 19.83 million tourists spent an average of 5.8 nights in London this year.

Coming in third place on the list is Paris, France, with more than 17 million visitors

Known for its chic hotels and posh restaurants, Paris also ranked second on the list of highest amount of dollars tourists spent per day in the city. 

The survey showed that visitors stayed an average of 2.5 nights on their trips.
