Jaw-Dropping Photos Taken By Malaysian Photographers Who Have Won International Awards

1. Nick Ng Yeow Kee

Speciality: Travel and portrait photography.

Award: Sony World Photography Award 2015 - 1st place (Low Light category).

A dental surgeon by profession, Nick got into photography by accident. Initially purchased a camera for the purpose of recording his patients' cases, he started fiddling with the camera in 2008. The rest, like they all say, is history.

During his travels, Nick explores hidden cities and remote areas often not visited by tourists. Some of the many countries he has visited including China and India.

Speciality: Landscape and nature photography.

Award: Sony World Photography Award 2015 - Youth Photographer of The Year.

The 19-year-old Malaysian took the photography world by storm with a shot of the alleyway behind his grandmother's house in Alor Setar, Kedah. The shot, which was taken during Chinese New Year helped him win the Youth Photographer of the Year at the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.

Now, Yong Lin takes pictures of nature, environment and landscape, and sometimes people too - mostly in Alor Setar where his grandparents stay.

The shot that helped Yong Lin win the Youth Photographer of The Year award.

3. Louis Pang

Award: Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) 2010 - Portrait Print of the Year Award.

Louis is an international award-winning photographer based in Malaysia. He travels the world to photograph weddings and engagement sessions. Elegant, intimate and journalistic is how Louis describes his art.

He has won 10 top-three awards at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI)’s print competitions. In 2009, Louis scooped one of four WPPI International Print of the Year award, one of the highest accolades for the organization.

Photography assignments have brought Louis to 20 countries and 5 continents. He thrives on the challenge of working in different environment and cultures.

4. Yaman Ibrahim

Award: Photographer Of The Year 2007,DCM UK - 1st place (Street Category).

Yaman Ibrahim is a full time Malaysian photographer based in Kuala Lumpur. His experiences as an art teacher and a Senior Manager in Creative and Multimedia gave him the knack to appreciate the finer things that others overlook. His interest in photography brewed since childhood and now has materialised into a full time career.

He is deeply passionate about all forms of photography from landscape, architecture, nature, documentary to portraits. His achievements and awards both locally and on an international level has inspired him to explore a new level in photography through experimentation.

5. Chen Wei Seng

Awards: World Press Photo Award (WPP) - 1st place (Sports).

Dr. Chen Wei Seng is a Malaysian freelance photographer. He takes on assignments for local and foreign photo agencies or event management companies, shooting mostly sports events and tournaments. He began experimenting with photography at the age of 13, but he first took it seriously in 2006 when he bought a DSLR.

Now, he travels to exotic places in Asia looking to shoot interesting celebrations and traditional sports

6. Sanjit Singh

Speciality: Nature and wildlife photography.

Awards: International Photography Awards (IPA) - 2nd place (Nature/Trees).

Kuala Lumpur native, Sanjitpaal Singh (Sanjit) is well known in the photography industry for his wildlife and nature work. With over 10 years of experience, he has received numerous accreditations working together with environmental NGOs, advertising firms and print companies.

His love of photography has gained him sponsorships from Olympus Malaysia and supporting photographic products. He also conducts workshops and seminars.

7. Daniel Ooi

'Be Yourself, Create Unique’ is the inspiration behind Daniel Ooi. The Johor-born Daniel specialises in shooting portrait and wedding photography. His experience and knowledge in the business have propelled him to international fame - by winning many awards throughout the years.

He's now the owner and principal photographer of Daniel Ooi Fine Art Gallery, a photography studio in Johor Bahru

Awards: Publish Asia Award 2003 and 2004 - Sports Picture of the Year.

Bazuki Muhammad is an award-winning photojournalist and is an editor who has covered assignments with Reuters and U.S. newspapers for 20 years. A US-educated architect, Bazuki spent 10 years in New Orleans and Knoxville experimenting with his “Art of Seeing” before shooting for Reuters in Malaysia.
