OhBulan and Seismik Launch Sex Education Campaign To Raise Awareness & Confront Taboos
"Peduli Seks: Tabu Tapi Perlu Tahu" aims to empower Malaysians with essential knowledge and combat misinformation.
OhBulan and Seismik are excited to announce the launch of their collaborative sex education campaign, Peduli Seks: Tabu Tapi Perlu Tahu (Care About Sex: It's Taboo But Necessary)
This initiative is designed to address the significant gaps in sexual health knowledge among Malaysians and confront the taboos that often hinder open discussions about sex.
In partnership with Hello Doktor and SPOT Community Project, the campaign aims to empower individuals with essential knowledge that promotes safe practices, consent, and healthy relationships. Through a series of engaging content, live events, and activations, Peduli Seks: Tabu Tapi Perlu Tahu will provide accurate information and resources to encourage dialogue around sexual health.
Running from 1 November to 30 November 2024, this initiative aims to foster open, informed conversations about sex education, with a particular focus on breaking the stigma within the Malay community.
Why "Peduli Seks"?
Sex education is often considered a sensitive and taboo subject. However, addressing this issue is critical, as it promotes healthy behaviour, combats misinformation, raises awareness about sexual harassment and sexual grooming, and prepares young adults for life’s challenges.
The "Peduli Seks" campaign is built on four essential pillars:
Health: Discussions on both men's and women's sexual health, including contraception and reproductive health.
Family & Relationships: Exploring the importance of consent, recognising signs of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, and encouraging healthy relationship dynamics.
Community: Addressing critical social issues such as sexual harassment and sexual grooming, while also connecting people with community organisations that offer support.
Policy & Advocacy: Raising awareness of local and national policies regarding sexual health, and encouraging public involvement in pushing for comprehensive sex education.
The campaign will utilise various platforms, including social media, traditional media, and live sessions, to reach a wide audience
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts, ask questions, and access reliable information through:
Informative articles and videos
Podcasts and YouTube Live sessions
TV ads, billboards, and newspaper blasts
All the content will be housed on a dedicated microsite, including anonymous story-sharing and collaborations with various NGOs.
Additionally, the hashtag #PeduliSeks will be used to engage audiences across social media platforms and widen the reach of this important cause.
