"At First Glance, It Seemed Like An Ordinary Burglary," Said Co-Founder Of Phat Culture Eliza Lee

But after doing an inventory on the stock of clothes, Lee found that the thieves also helped themselves to around 60 articles of female clothing.

“They were mostly hijab wear and modern muslimah clothing, with a total retail value of around RM3,000. It was clear they were there with the intention to rob us, but I was quite surprised that they would also take our clothes!” said Lee, who added that her all-female staff were considering moving shop as they no longer felt safe there.

"
At the same time, we felt relief that none of us or our team members were around when it happened. However, we were also angry - because as an all-female team, it really isn't safe for us here and now we're not even sure if we'd be completely safe anywhere else either!"
