[PHOTOS] This Is NOT What It Looks Like. It's Totally Edible. We Can Explain.
We promise the images contained within this story are absolutely SFW.
You might have noticed some of your friends posting photos of these... "oddly-shaped" ice cream sticks on their Instagram lately
Before you flag it down as "inappropriate", hear us out! It's not what it looks like!
While it bears a resemblance to a certain something, it's actually a cane-shaped ice cream cone called 'Jipangi', which is a pretty big hit in South Korea and the latest Korean food trend to land in Malaysia
Jipangi (지팡이), which is Korean for "cane", is basically ice cream in a cane-shaped puffed corn. Originating from Insa-dong in Korea, the ice cream draws locals and tourists alike every day because of its shape. While the shape is its main selling point, the ice cream has gotten rave reviews from the visitors because the cone made of corn flour.
hype.myThe 'Jipangi' is usually stuffed with soft-serve vanilla or chocolate ice cream, but you can also opt for both - with one on each end
If you're one of those people whose mind have gone down the gutter, you should probably know that its unintentionally inappropriate design has inspired quite a number of photos showing people, uh... enjoying their ice creams ;)
This lady doesn't look too impressed by her "Jipangi" though. We wonder why...
Anyway, just don't be surprised if you find yourself getting strange looks as you're wolfing down your ice cream while you're walking around in the mall
Not that it's stopping these ice cream-loving kids (and their parents) from enjoying their own ice cream canes!
In case you're wondering, this is how the ice cream is pumped into the 'Jipangi's cane-shaped corn shell
Contributing to the dessert cafe environment, cold brew coffee is also available for sale if you feel like washing down your ice cream with a splash of beverage
Want a piece of this delectable treat? No, you don't have to go all the way to Korea because the first Jipangi outlet in Malaysia is now open in Sunway Pyramid!
Address: LG2.75A (near Aeon), Sunway Pyramid, Selangor.
