As we get older, our skin condition continues to change. While you may have had oily, acne-prone skin as a teenager, your skin could now be dry and sensitive instead. So it's no wonder that we tend to switch up our skincare products in order to meet our skin's ever-changing needs.

But does changing products really work, or does it cause our skin to go through more changes when it tries to adapt to the new formula? Cetaphil believes that what you really need is something gentle that will take care of your skin no matter what.

Cetaphil challenged us to replace our usual cleaners with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, which is specially formulated for all skin types. Here's what we thought after putting it to the test:

1. "I have quite large pores so I try to avoid cleansers which clog them - thankfully, Cetaphil didn't feel like it was doing that"

Skin type: Normal

"Cetaphil was super gentle on my skin! Other facial cleansers that I used in the past tend to make my face feel tight and dry. But this made my face feel clean without being stripped of its natural oils. I would definitely recommend this if you have acne issues or sensitive skin because of how gentle the product is."

Final rating: 3/5

2. "The cleanser did a great job imo!"

Skin type: Oily

"It didnt leave any residual impurities on my face and it didn't irritate my skin. I have oily skin, so I was a fan of the cool feeling it left after the wash. Super freshhhh.

It didnt leave my face dry or tight and it was so refreshing (especially after a long day after work). It also didn't have any fragrance or soapy (like foamed up bubbles) elements in it. So super best!"

Final rating: 4/5

- Weiwen, 23

3. "I have dry, flaky skin so I stay away from products that could potentially aggravate it in the slightest"

Skin type: Dry

"That means nothing with fragrance, unsuitable for sensitive skin, or harsh to apply, which is why Cetaphil has always been my go-to! It’s so gentle, fuss-free, and I can trust that my face is thoroughly cleaned of all the dirt it has accumulated throughout the day."

Final rating: 4/5

- Kat, 24

4. "It’s been quite a roller coaster trying to find the right cleanser that isn’t too harsh but still provides the moisture my skin needs"

Skin type: Combination

"I have combination skin so I get oily around the T-zone but the rest of my face can be pretty dry. Cetaphil is my holy grail. Throughout the day my skin feels under control.

I also love keeping my skincare routine simple so Cetaphil helps me do just that. Oh and I love how it feels when I’m washing my face, it’s not harsh at all and sooo fresh!"

Final rating: 5/5

- Arisha, 22

5. "I’m picky with cleansers so once I find one I like, I tend to stick with it, unless someone with my skin type recommends something else"

Skin type: Sensitive

"Most cleansers either strip too much oil off your face, or too little and you’re left with oil on your face (yuck). While using the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, I found that it does a good job of removing minimal makeup and my skin feels great after using it.

The best part is after using it, my face doesn't produce as much oil, so my makeup lasts longer throughout the day! Oh, but you do need to use at least a pin size amount, otherwise it might not be enough to cover your whole face."

Final rating: 3.8/5

- Selena, 23

Overall, we enjoyed using the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and found that it suited all our skin needs

According to survey conducted by Home Tester Club Malaysia, "99% of women agree that Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser gently cleans and moisturises without stripping the skin’s natural oils, for all skin types".

The survey also found that "97% women will switch to Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser upon first trial". Based on our experience using it, we can definitely see why!

Even local celeb Lisa Surihani can attest to the product's effectiveness. She started using the Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser when she was pregnant with her second child, as pregnancy hormones made her skin very oily and the product was known to be gentle enough for all skin types.

She's been using it ever since and even became Cetaphil's brand partner. No matter how her skin type changes, her cleanser now always remains the same.

Did you know that Cetaphil is dermatologist recommended? It's actually the No.1 derma skincare brand sold in clinics and hospitals in Malaysia.

The Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser is both soap and fragrance-free, so it won't over-dry or over-cleanse your skin, and it's even clinically proven to be non-irritating.

It's also non-comedogenic (which means that it doesn't clog pores) and is pH balanced to a level that's close to skin's natural pH, so it doesn't strip off the skin's natural protective barrier.
