McDonald's China Releases Chilli Oil Ice Cream. Yay Or Nay?
Hot and cold.
Strange food combinations are nothing new to Malaysians.
We've definitely seen it all – from Milo cheese durian drinks, to Oreo with rice and durian fried rice.
Taking ice cream flavours up a notch, McDonald's China has just released a new sundae topped with spicy chilli oil
The limited-edition ice cream was announced on its Weibo page on 21 January, according to a poster spotted by Mothership.
It states that members with a coupon are allowed to redeem the ice cream for free on 25 January.
This isn't the first time the peculiar chilli oil combo has been spotted in China
In 2018, a similar ice cream combo went viral in the cities of Chongqing and Chengdu, China.
An ice cream company known as Mailisi was serving the spicy combo along with others like Sichuan pepper ice cream.
The sweet and spicy combination was apparently pretty tasty.
Not too long ago, McDonald's China also made headlines for releasing a limited-edition Oreo and spam burger
It was available for one day only on 21 December 2020 and became so popular, it sold out by lunchtime.
The burger was made with two slices of luncheon meat, topped with Oreo crumbs and mayo.
