A 10-year-old primary school student in Sabah died after she was run over by a drunk driver on 11 March
Max Christty, a student of SK Tempasuk 2, was pronounced dead at the scene at 6.45am by personnel from the district hospital, New Straits Times reported.
She was waiting for transportation to go to school.
The victim was standing by the roadside of Jalan Tempasuk 2, when the man lost control of his vehicle and swerved into her and two other schoolchildren
The car then crashed into a concrete house nearby.
7-year-old Maxryona Masdi and 14-year-old Michelle Marianne David were brought to the hospital by passers-by before firefighters were despatched to the scene.
They are both in critical condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital after suffering serious head injuries.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the drunk driver was a 54-year-old farmer who was driving his Nissan Sentra from the town centre to his home
"The driver suffered only minor injuries," said district police chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Abdullah.
He received treatment at the district hospital before being arrested for suspected drunk driving," he added, according to New Straits Times.
