10-Year-Old Rawang Girl Run Over By School Van In Front Of Her House

China Press reported that the incident happened at around 6.30pm yesterday in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang. 

The girl was dropped off by her school van outside her flat. 

Oriental Daily reported that the driver, who did not see the 10-year-old walking in front of the vehicle, drove straight into her.

"The driver only realised what had happened after seeing the girl through the vehicle's side mirror," Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Lim Bak Phai said, according to Kosmo. 

The Standard Four student passed away at the scene of the incident.

"No damages were caused to the van and the driver has been detained for investigations," Lim said. 

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
