A 10-year-old girl died after being run over by her school van outside her home in Rawang yesterday, 4 April
The van driver reportedly ran the girl over as she was walking in front of the vehicle
Oriental Daily reported that the driver, who did not see the 10-year-old walking in front of the vehicle, drove straight into her.
"The driver only realised what had happened after seeing the girl through the vehicle's side mirror," Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Lim Bak Phai said, according to Kosmo.
The Standard Four student passed away at the scene of the incident.
The 56-year-old driver has since been arrested by the police
"No damages were caused to the van and the driver has been detained for investigations," Lim said.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
