Parents of a teenage girl who was taken to Bintulu Hospital after she complained of a stomach ache were in for a rude shock when doctors told them that she was actually pregnant and in labour
According to a report in NST Online, the 14-year-old gave birth to a baby girl on Wednesday, 27 December. The newborn is in healthy condition.
Her parents, who had brought her to Bintulu Hospital on Tuesday to get her stomach ache checked, were shocked.
After the girl gave birth, the hospital alerted the police the same day.
The girl claims she didn't even know that she was pregnant
She, however, admitted to having engaged in sexual intercourse with a man in his 20s, at his home, Bintulu police chief Superintendent Zulkipli Suhaili said.
Initial investigations revealed that the incident occurred in a longhouse in Bintulu and they had sexual intercourse several times since the beginning of the year.
However, the girl and the man in his 20s lost contact after he moved to another longhouse in early October, Suhaili added.
