17-Year-Old Arrested For Running A Child Prostitution Ring On Facebook

The teen reportedly received approximately RM145 for each 'booking'.

A 17-year-old Indonesian was arrested on 7 March for allegedly running a child prostitution business online

The Jakarta Post reported that the teenager, who is known as EGR, was arrested at a hotel located in North Jakarta. 

Arrest of the 17-year-old was confirmed by Tanjung Priok Port Police criminal investigation unit chief Adj. Comr. Moh Faruk Rozi.

EGR reportedly offered child prostitutes through a Facebook account

"A cyber-patrol team received information that the perpetrator offered prostitution services through a Facebook account under the name 'Tasya Ayusari'," Moh Faruk said, according to Kompas.

An investigator, who was sent to pose as EGR's client, offered IDR4 million (approximately RM1,160) for a 15-year-old prostitute

EGR reportedly brought the victim to the hotel on 7 March before getting detained by the police.

The 17-year-old allegedly earned IDR500,000 (approximately RM145) for each 'booking'

EGR is being charged under Indonesia's 2007 law on human trafficking and the 2008 law on electronic information and transactions (ITE). 

If convicted, the teenager faces a maximum jail sentence of 15 years.
