Two local men raped a woman from Indonesia in Ampang, Selangor on Saturday, 20 August, while pretending to be immigration officers

According to a statement by Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak earlier today, 22 August, the two Malaysians, aged 35 and 40, carried out the act early Saturday morning, when they approached two Indonesian women near a hospital in Pandan Indah in Ampang.

The men, claiming to be from the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), told the two women that they needed to check their passports and permits and then ordered them to get into a Honda City car.

"The two women were taken to the Serdang area and during the journey, the suspects took jewellery and cash belonging to the victims. One of the victims was then dropped off in the area while the other was taken to a hotel in the Balakong area and raped," he said in the press statement.

Both the men have since been arrested in a raid

They were arrested at about 3am today, 22 August, at a house in Taman Seri Asahan, Jasin, Melaka, where police also seized cash, a necklace, a bracelet, and the vehicle used by the suspects during the crime.

The 40-year-old suspect has 18 past criminal and drug records, including three wanted records, while the 35-year-old suspect has 13 past criminal and drug records, including one wanted record.

Both suspects have been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

No further details were provided in the statement.
