2 Tourists Killed In Bali After Being Hit By Falling Tree Branch

A strong gust of wind caused a large branch from one of the trees in the forest to break and fall.

Two tourists died after being struck by a falling tree branch at the Ubud Monkey Forest in Bali on Tuesday, 10 December

According to Antara News, the incident occurred at around 12.25pm local time.

The victims were identified the two foreign nationals as 32-year-old Funny Justine Christine from France and 42-year-old Kim Hyoeun from South Korea.

A third victim sustained injuries in the incident and was treated at the clinic in Ubud Monkey Forest.

Police are currently cleaning up the site with assistance from the Gianyar Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency

The police have temporarily closed the tourist attraction to conduct their investigation.

Meanwhile, Bali police senior commissioner Jansen Avitus Panjaitan urged locals and tourists to exercise caution during the rainy and windy weather.

"It is better to avoid travelling during rain or to find a safe place to take shelter. People should be vigilant and careful," Jansen stated.

In a statement, the sanctuary's management expressed their condolences to the victims and their families following the tragedy.

They also pledged to cooperate with authorities to ensure that everyone affected receives the necessary support.

The sanctuary also said it conducts regular maintenance, including tree safety inspections, as part of its conservation efforts.
