A 2-Year-Old Boy Was Allegedly Saved By His Diaper After Falling From 11th Floor Apartment
A video of the incident has since surfaced online.
A two-year-old boy recently survived a fall from the 11th floor of an apartment block in Sengkang, Singapore
The Straits Times reported that the toddler was standing on a stool when he fell from the window of the 11-storey flat yesterday morning, 26 November.
Residents found the boy sustaining minor injuries and lying on a patch of grass at about 10am.
The boy had been reportedly saved by his diaper
Shin Min Daily News quoted an eyewitness as saying that the toddler's diaper had caught onto a clothes rack on his way down, cushioning his fall.
The boy's mother told the Singaporean news daily that the incident occurred because the window was not closed.
A resident also claimed that the father said that they have a window grille but the window had not been closed.
"They are being judged very harshly online, but I am sure the parents are already suffering," said a neighbour, who lives on the same floor as the family.
The toddler was rushed to a hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition the same night
Dr. Wan told The Straits Times that the boy had a wound on his left arm and may have suffered multiple bone fractures.
"I am surprised the injuries weren't worse... children generally have more padding and can survive falls better than adults," said Dr. Wan, who added that the boy's diapers were torn.
