"Gangster Politics" – 200 Pakatan Harapan Flags Removed & Thrown In Ditch In Ayer Hitam
The flags were found dumped just hours after they were raised along the side of the road.
More than 200 Pakatan Harapan (PH) flags put along a path were removed and dumped in a ditch in Kampung Parit Kuari near Ayer Hitam, Johor
The incident occurred on 7 November, believed to have been carried out by thoughtless persons.
Details of the incident were posted on Facebook by Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali, PH's candidate for the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
At 8am, a witness who was passing through the area discovered more than 200 flags laying in the ditch, just hours after the flags were raised along the side of the road.
Following the incident, the Johor Democratic Action Party (DAP) vice chairman criticised the actions of the vandals
"We are greatly disappointed by these gangster politics. We condemn any party that uses dirty and uncivilised tactics in the upcoming elections," he said.
"These actions undermine a democracy that allows political parties to campaign in a healthy manner and follow rules that are set by the Election Commission (EC), as well as the authorities."
He also instructed PH Ayer Hitam workers not to take retaliatory action that might go against election laws.
Sheikh Umar also vowed to push for the victory of Pakatan Harapan during the upcoming elections
"We will continue to fight and campaign ethically. We will also continue to work hard to guarantee PH wins the Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat," he said.
The Ayer Hitam parliamentary seat will see a three-cornered fight come 19 November.
According to The Star, Sheikh Umar will be contending against Malaysian Chinese Association's (MCA) Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (BERSATU) Muhammad Syafiq A. Aziz.
