A fisherman in Perak has been sentenced to a total of 202 years behind bars for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter, who is a minor
According to Malay Mail, the man plead guilty to 22 counts of raping, molesting, and having unnatural sex with his stepdaughter since she was 12 years old.
The offences took place at their home in Kampung Tersusun Baru, Perak between April 2016 and September this year.
The victim's mother had discovered her daughter's nude video in a folder named 'AnakKu' on the accused's phone
She immediately filed a report and had the police arrest him on the same day.
The Star reported that the man had molested and raped the victim on multiple occasions while her mother was either away from home or asleep.
The victim's impact statement read in court also reported that the victim's stepfather had threatened her to stay silent.
However, the accused will only be required to serve 38 years in prison
The court has ordered the sentences for all charges to run concurrently and also consecutively. Therefore, he will not be required to serve jail time throughout 202 years.
Besides that, he was also sentenced to 23 strokes of the cane.
The 37-year-old was charged under Sections 354, 376B, 377C, and 509 of the Penal Code and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.
