A 22-year-old girl was found dead, naked and bruised in a budget hotel in Kelana Jaya on 10 June 2014
A local woman, 22, was found dead and naked in a budget hotel in Kelana Jaya, here yesterday.
Petaling Jaya District Deputy Police Chief, Supt Fadil Marsus said police received information about the incident from the public at about 4.30pm before arriving at the scene.
Sivasangkari Arumugam checked into the hotel at 4pm on Monday, 9 June 2014 with a male friend who turns out to be her brother-in-law
He said the victim had registered at the hotel with a male friend at about 4pm yesterday (Monday) before he disappeared on Tuesday afternoon.
At 11am the following day, the suspect came to the lobby alone and extended the room for another day before leaving.
The victim's sister and hotel staff found her body on Tuesday after receiving a call from the man
Sources said that the body of the dead girl who works as a cashier at a spa, was discovered by her sister and hotel staff around 5pm on Tuesday after her husband called her and allegedly confessed to killing her.

The 27-year-old man confessed to his wife that he killed her sister and wants to commit suicide
It is learnt that the man and the girl had checked into the budget hotel at Kelana Jaya around 4pm on Monday and the man left the hotel alone yesterday morning before calling his wife.

The man, 27, who works at a pub in Kuala Lumpur, allegedly also told his wife that he has decided to commit suicide.

Meanwhile, a relative met at the scene, who declined to be named, claimed that Sivasangkari and the suspect were warned by the family not to continue their illicit relationship.
He claimed that the suspect had also been harassing the victim on and off, which led the victim to change jobs over the last few months to avoid the suspect. “We never expected it to end this way. Despite the warnings, I guess they must have kept in touch,” he said.
According to the bruises on the girl's neck, police believe the victim had died of strangulation at 12.30am on Tuesday
"Investigations revealed bruise marks on her neck, believed to be from strangulation. However, no weapon was found in the room," he said here today.
He said the time of death is roughly around 12.30am on Tuesday. Police are also checking CCTV recordings at the hotel. It is believed that the death may have been a sexual encounter gone wrong.

The suspect has now been arrested at the Teluk Intan Hospital after a failed suicide attempt landed him there
The suspect sought in the murder of 22-year-old Sivashangari Arumugam at a hotel room in Kelana Jaya has been arrested. District police chief Supt Fadil Mahsus confirmed the 26-year-old’s arrest at Teluk Intan hospital, late night just now.
The suspect who fled Kelana Jaya after allegedly strangling his sister-in-law in a love triangle had also tried to take his own life by consuming poison. "He however failed to do so and is admitted at the hospital, where he was earlier arrested," he said.
