66-Year-Old Singapore Doctor Charged With Raping A 23-Year-Old Patient At His Clinic

Yesterday, 24 February, a General Practitioner was charged with raping and molesting one of his female patients at his clinic in 2015

According to a report in The Straits Times, the General Practitioner (GP) had allegedly raped the female patient, a 23-year-old woman, at his clinic, which he operates at night, between 11.30pm on 30 December 2015 and 12.30am the next night.

The GP is 66 years old and was identified as Wee Teong Boo.

The clinic, Wee's Clinic & Surgery is located at Block 418, Bedok North Avenue 2.

The doctor's bail amount was set at RM221,225 by Deputy Public Prosecutor. However, his lawyer argued to District Judge that RM158,018 would be sufficient to secure his client's attendance.

The lawyer, Edmond Pereira, told the District Judge, Christopher Goh, that Wee Teong Boo has been helping police in the investigation and that he is a Singaporean with his family in the country. In the meantime, his passport has been impounded.

The accused is to return to court on 11 April 2017.

If convicted of rape, the GP faces up to 20 years in jail

He may also be fined, however, as he is above 50, no caning will be imposed.
