It was supposed to be a good time of celebration with her closest friends but the night came to a tragic end when Evelynn Boey sustained bruises after someone molested her at a beach party in Singapore

Boey, who hails from Malaysia, was attending a beach party in Singapore's Sentosa Island on new year eve's day on 31 December with some of her closest friends.

The 30-year-old medical technician was having a good time until she joined her friends at the signature foam pool, one of the major highlights of the event, where someone had outraged her modesty.

Recounting her experience on Facebook, Boey said, "It happened at the foam pool where there is a huge foam cannon shooting foams out from the top that could cover anybody that goes under it. I remember my friends going into the foam and I was trying to go in too."

"At a swift moment, someone grabbed me (and) hugged me from the back and pushed me in and started groping my boob."

The next sequence of events detailed by Boey made many others feel squeamish

"He pushed me down into the pool of foams where nobody can see me at all, continued to grope me vigorously, and put his other hand into my pants," she wrote.

"He was also pulling my bra down. I was struggling to push him away and at the same time finding my way out to somewhere where people can see me."

"He tried again to pull my bra away."

"I shouted but I guess nobody can hear me as the music was loud too."

When she finally managed to escape from the frantic situation, she immediately went to one of the security guards who was standing around the foam pool, asking for help.

However, Boey was disappointed when her pleas for help was to no avail when the security guard refused to interfere in the matter, claiming that he did not see what happened so he "cannot do anything".

Later, it was reported that Boey's friend, only known as Lee, was also sexually assaulted at the event

According to media reports, someone had attacked Lee from behind and even tried to pull her pants down.

The 29-year-old said that she managed to break free from her attacker during the incident, and reached out to Boey to help the latter get out of the foam pool.

Boey admitted that this unpleasant experience was indeed a bitter pill to swallow

"Some of you may say, 'Padan muka who ask u to wear so little cloth', 'You asked for it' or 'This kind of things happened so many times'."

"Yes, I admit that I was being careless, so carried away having fun at the party but nobody deserves this. Lesson learned," she said, responding to potential criticisms that will arise since she was relating her experience on social media.

Boey also stressed that she was not drunk that night because she doesn't drink. "I would like to remind all the girls to be really careful all the time. Please take care of each other while you are out there partying because you wouldn't know what will happen. I was unlucky that it happened to me."

As Boey had expected earlier, some netizens have slammed her and said that she was also responsible when such incident happens. Some went as far as to say that she "deserved it".

Meanwhile, others have defended Boey, saying that there was no need for victim blaming

It was reported that a police report was lodged and the Singaporean authorities are currently conducting investigations into the matter

A spokesperson for the Sentosa Development Corporation said on Tuesday, 3 January, that investigations are ongoing so they are unable to provide further details on the matter at this point. She added that they were in contact with Boey and Lee to offer their assistance.

Meanwhile, Boey told Singapore's Straits Times that the incident has changed her perception on such parties and Singapore in particular.

"This is our first time attending a party like this. And it's quite typical for foreigners like us to think that Singapore is a safe place," she was quoted as saying.
