8 People Killed, Over 10 Injured In Two Separate Accidents On The Eve Of Hari Raya Haji
A family of six died in a three-vehicle collision near Rompin, and two women were killed in a five-vehicle pile-up near the Menora Tunnel. Both the accidents happened on the eve of Hari Raya Haji.

On the eve of Hari Raya Haji, 6 family members died in a 3-vehicle collision at Km142 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat, near Rompin
Rompin OCPD Deputy Superintendent Johari Jahaya said the group was travelling in a Perodua Alza from Segamat, Johor, to here when the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered towards the opposite lane at about 8.15pm yesterday. “It then crashed into an oncoming bus with 26 passengers in it,” he said.
thestar.com.myA Perodua Myvi, which was moving behind the Perodua Alza, tried to avoid crashing into the car but landed in a ditch by the side of the road. “The driver, the only person in the car, was unhurt,” said DSP Johari. He said of the deceased, three were men, two women and another was a girl.
The bus driver is warded at Segamat Hospital with injuries to his eye and a 9-month-old girl suffered minor bruises on the head. Meanwhile, police have identified the family of six.
District police chief Deputy Superinten dent Johari Jahaya said the victims were identified as Perodua Alza multi purpose vehicle driver Azhar Mat Ali, 43, his first wife, Zaliha Johar, 42, second wife Siti Habibah Kasbon, 43 and Zaliha's children - Mohd Wazin Azhar, 20, Ain Nadiah Azhar, 13 and Ain Najihah Azhar, 12.

The bodies of Azhar, Ain Nadiah and Ain Najihah (Siti Habibah's daughters) were sent to the Muadzam Shah Hospital, while Mohd Wazin (Zaliha's son), Zaliha and Siti Habibah were sent to the Rompin Hospital, he said. "A post-mortem will be carried out on the victims at the respective hospitals," he told Bernama Sunday.
Johari said a nine-month-old baby girl on the bus sustained minor injuries to the head and was treated as an outpatient at the Segamat Hospital, while the bus driver, whose eyes were injured by shards of glass, is being treated at the same hospital.
And in a separate accident at KM256 of the North-South Expressway near the Menora Tunnel in Ipoh, 2 women were killed and more than 10 people injured in a 5-vehicle pile-up early morning on 4 October. The accident caused a 10 km traffic crawl.

But we are still investigating the cause of the accident. The lorry was believed to be travelling from Johor to Penang,” he said, adding that the lorry driver was among those injured during the 11.30am incident yesterday.
