9 Facts You Should Know About The Robbery At Hannah Yeoh's Parents' House
DAP's Selangor Assembly Speaker Hannah Yeoh sought the attention of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar on Twitter Sunday, informing him that her parents' house has been robbed.

1. Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh sent an emergency tweet to IGP Khalid Abu Bakar after her parents' house was robbed by 5 masked men. Yeoh said the masked robbers tied up her father and brother.

2. Following which, she posted on Facebook, saying the robbery took place at her parents' house in USJ at around 10am on Sunday
"These men wore gloves and ski masks. Dad and brother were tied up. My mother, maid, grandaunt and niece were all forced to cover their heads with a blanket while the man ransacked the entire house for about 15-20 mins," she wrote.

"I am thankful that my family members were not injured," she wrote.
4. Subang Jaya police have confirmed the incident
Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Tan Ah Chua confirmed that Selangor state assembly speaker Hannah Yeoh’s parents were robbed in their home in USJ 3 this morning.
According to Tan, five unknown masked men broke into the house around 10am, armed with a machete each and stole over RM8,000 cash, jewellery and liquor, among others.

5. However, reacting to her tweet, the IGP said that her family had to lodge a police report before police could initiate investigation
Selangor Speaker Hannah Yeoh must lodge police report first before authorities can initiate investigations into the five masked men who had robbed her parents' house, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
"Make a report first," the Inspector-General of Police told reporters when asked whether he would take action after being notified by Yeoh on Twitter.

7. Subang Jaya Deputy Police Chief Superintendent Tan Ah Chua told the Rakyat Post that while there were CCTV cameras inside the house, the decoders were taken away by the masked robbers
"The house is situated in a guarded neighbourhood, so now we are investigating the guards to find out more about the suspects, such as how did they got into the area in the first place, what car they were driving and how they looked like."

8. Meanwhile, in her Facebook post, Hannah had added that police should use the force's resources more efficiently to fight crime
"It is crime such as this that remains the greatest concern of Malaysians. We want to see a safer Malaysia, and that requires efficient utilisation of our police resources in combating real crime," she wrote.

9. IGP Khalid Abu Bakar has been an active user on Twitter; but his action has not always gone down well with some sections of society
Khalid is known for using his Twitter account to instruct police officers to carry out investigations, especially over the use of social media regarding posts that are allegedly seditious.
He had called for investigations against Lawyers for Liberty co-founder Eric Paulsen regarding a tweet questioning Friday sermons by the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim), and against other individuals, mostly politicians and critics of the government.

On Wednesday, Khalid had brushed off a campaign to ban him on Twitter, saying 126,000 other police officers would take over policing the social media site in his stead, and the Malaysian police will continue monitoring Twitter and other social networks despite the complaints.
“If there are so many cops monitoring twitter, shouldnt we be able to lodge police reports & get status update on investigations via twitter?” Yeoh had tweeted in response a day later.
