Police are on the hunt for two Bangladesh nationals who assaulted a teenager in Kota Tinggi, Johor
Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendent Hussin Zamora told New Straits Times that the 17-year-old was robbed by the roadside near Kampung Gambut on Monday, 10 August.
Prior to the incident, the teen had befriended the two suspects through an app dubbed MiChat and decided to join them on a visit to a nearby supermarket
Bernama reported that the incident went viral on social media as netizens speculated with abduction and attempted rape allegations made against the suspects.
However, police denied the rumours and clarified that the victim had met up with the two men, in their 30s, on their own volition.
"The victim sustained injuries to their left hand and right leg due to the assault. Their mobile phone, RM200 in cash, and identification documents were stolen, too," Hussin added.
Investigations are being conducted under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery
Hussin also told Bernama that police are on the hunt for the suspects and they implore members of the public with any information regarding the case to call Inspector Syukor at +6011-10823779.
