The boar charged at the victim while other people tried to chase it out of the prayer hall.
Mosque-goers had the shock of their lives yesterday, 6 March, when a wild boar wandered into Masjid Jamek Sungai Plong and injured a worshipper who was preparing to perform prayers
According to New Straits Times, the congregation tried to drive the animal out of the hall after being stunned by its presence.
Amidst the commotion, the boar charged at a man who was getting ready to perform the Isyak prayer and left him with cuts and lacerations on his body.
The boar, which had a neck injury, was seen chasing children around the mosque before it ran inside and charged at the worshipper
According to China Press, the boar also ran into two motorcycles outside the mosque while chasing children.
The mosque's imam Ungku Ahmad Hazwan Ungku Kamarudin told The Star that mosque-goers realised the boar had a neck injury when it entered the prayer hall.
Mosque-goers took over 30 minutes to chase the boar out of the mosque before it was shot dead
The Star reported that Ungku Ahmad Hazwan said the animal was shot dead by a member of the mosque using a shotgun. The Sungai Plong police station was also contacted to help diffuse the situation.
According to Ungku Ahmad Hazwan, three quarters of the prayer hall and verandah of the mosque were affected by the incident.
The Selangor Mufti's Office (JMNS) has been contacted to evaluate proper cleaning (sertu) of the mosque. Prayers are currently being carried out as usual at unaffected parts of the mosque.
