A Mother Reportedly Sold Her 5-Year-Old Daughter For Sex To The Father For Less Than RM40
While the mother faces 20 years in jail, the man could be jailed for 30.
Earlier this week, a 28-year-old Thai woman was arrested for allegedly selling her five-year-old daughter for sex to a 52-year-old customer, whom she claimed was the young girl's biological father
According to Pol Col Kriengkrai Boonsorn, deputy commander of Chachoengsao Police Station, the mother frequently allowed her daughter to be sexually abused by her clients for less than RM40
One of the customers the woman had reportedly taken the child to was the 52-year man, who is allegedly the girl's biological father and was caught in the act.
According to a report in AsiaOne, each time the mother sent her daughter to service the suspect she was paid 200-300 baht (RM26 to RM39) in cash and goods.
Police have since charged the mother with forcing the girl to provide sex services and illegal detention. The 52-year-old was charged with sexually abusing a child of 13 years or less who was not his wife, the Bangkok Post reported Tuesday, 23 April.
The pair were arrested on 21 April after a complaint was filed with the Dhamrongtham Centre over alleged child abuse
At the time of the arrest, the victim was found to have been forced to lie down in the back of the 52-year-old man's Isuzu pickup truck, where officers seized a sex toy, a tube of personal lubricant, and two blankets, according to the Bangkok Post.
Pol Col Kriangkrai was quoted by the Thai news site saying that during the interrogation, the man had confessed to having abused a girl aged five years, sent to him by her mother in exchange for cash and other items.
The woman said that the 52-year-old, who is a married man with a daughter, had refused to accept the five-year-old as his daughter
She told police that she had had a sexual relationship with the man and became pregnant with a baby girl, Thai portal The Nation reported on Tuesday.
However, when she had told him that the girl was his daughter, the man had refused to accept that and so she had found another person to sign the birth certificate.
The child is now at a care home for rehabilitation treatment under the care of the Social Development and Human Security Ministry
Meanwhile, the mother, who was charged with human trafficking, could be jailed for up to 20 years and/or pay a fine not exceeding five million baht (RM645K).
The 52-year-old biological father of the child, who was charged with rape and molesting a minor, He could be jailed for up to 30 years for both offences, it was reported.
