All You Should Know About The Tahfiz School Volunteer Who Sexually Molested 21 Students
The suspect is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.
On 13 March, police detained a 41-year-old man suspected of sexually abusing 21 students at a tahfiz centre in Kuantan, Pahang
According to Berita Harian, the suspect was detained following a report lodged by a teacher from the school located on Bukit Bay Route.
After witnessing the suspect attempt to climb into bed with a student who was sleeping, the teacher pressed the student into admitting what had been done to himself and to others.
The students who had been sexually molested, aged between 14 and 17, were threatened by the man to keep his secret
The suspect had allegedly forced students to perform oral sex on him and even sodomised six of them.The Kuantan deputy police chief, Supt Kama Azural Mohamed, said that, "The man had also beaten up and warned his victims that they would be killed if they told anyone what he did to them."
The suspect was a volunteer who had been donating daily necessities and clothing to the centre since 2015
Supt Kama Azural Mohamed revealed that the report lodged on 13 March claimed the man had been committing the deplorable acts on the victims since late last year.
The suspect was so well liked by teachers and parents that he was even trusted to handle welfare matters
The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code which carries a maximum 20 years in jail and whipping upon conviction
The suspect has been remanded from 13 March until 19 March.
