"Sorry We Can't Afford To Raise You" - Baby Found In Box Outside Surau Along With A Note
In the box, there were also some diapers, baby powder, and wet wipes.
A baby was recently found left alone in a box outside of a surau in Kuala Selangor
According to Berita Harian, a teacher of a nearby religious school, Mohd Maidin Abdul Rahim, found the infant around 7.15am on Sunday, 25 October, while on his way to work.
The baby was placed in a cardboard box and was found outside the gates of Surau Nurul Huda in Kampung Sungai Kajang Baru.
In the box, there were also some diapers, baby powder, and wet wipes along with an apology letter written by the person who left the child
Mohd Maidin told Harian Metro, "In the handwritten letter, the person apologised for not being able to raise the baby due to economic factors and thanked whoever is willing to take care of the baby."
He believes that the child may have been left at the premises after Subuh prayers. He said, "I informed the surau congregation regarding the discovery and they said they didn't notice a box next to the gates while they were leaving."
He then added that this was the first time it has happened in their area.
The authorities have been informed of the incident
Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Ramli Kasa has confirmed the incident with Harian Metro and said that further investigation will be carried out.
He also added that the child is now under the care of the Social Welfare Department Malaysia (JKMM).
