BN Pledges To Pay For 100 Couples' Wedding Every Year In Its FT Manifesto

Barisan Nasional's Federal Territories division has promised to provide mass weddings for up to 100 couples every year, as revealed in its GE14 manifesto yesterday, 22 April

The manifesto was unveiled by BN FT chairman Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Tengku Adnan, who will be contesting to retain his seat in Putrajaya, was met with loud applause when he announced the free wedding initiative during the launch

"We will also provide one set each of wedding attire for the bride and groom," the lawmaker said as quoted by The Straits Times.  

Selected low-income couples will also be given financial aid of RM500 and new clothes, Malaysiakini reported. 

Building on the theme "Aspirasi Rakyat, Agenda Kami" (The People's Aspiration, Our Agenda), other promises in the manifesto include jobs for 100,000 youths, providing RM10 million in education funds for Federal Territories residents, and building more than 200,000 units of affordable housing

Malay Mail reported that BN will ensure at least 30% of business premises in Kuala Lumpur are with Bumiputeras, in addition to organising internationally recognised events in Labuan to help drive development there. 

For the River of Life regeneration project, BN also promised to provide a water taxi service and adding 30km of covered pedestrian walkways around the city

The River of Life (ROL) project was initiated in 2011 to restore the eight major rivers in the Klang Valley, including the Klang and Gombak rivers in the city, to transform them into rivers with economic and commercial value.
