Zayn Rayyan, an autistic boy reported missing on Tuesday afternoon, 5 December, was found dead in a river close to his home in Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya

According to Harian Metro, the body of the six-year-old was found at 10pm last night, 6 December, by a group of residents and the police conducting a search operation in the area.

His disappearance was reported by his mother, 28-year-old Ismanira Abdul Manaf, who was with him when he went missing

It was reported that she had picked him up at school and they were walking back to their apartment in Damansara Damai when he disappeared.

The mother said she tried searching the surrounding area on her own before asking her husband, local residents, and later the police, to help find her son.

According to Berita Harian, Ismanira had received several leads, with some residents saying they last saw Zayn entering the jungle, while others saw him playing on the third floor of his apartment block, but the boy, who is non-verbal, ran away when he saw them.

"Zayn is a special child, he runs very fast and he has entered other people's homes before, but so far he has never disappeared, because wherever he goes, he is with me or his father. If he wanted to do anything, he would always ask for our permission," she was quoted as saying during the search.

Unfortunately, Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid confirmed the discovery of the victim's body last night

He said the boy was found in a river approximately 200m from his home at Apartment Idaman.

Mohamad Fakhrudin added that the search operation involved over 40 police officers, the K9 unit, and 60 residents, working together to search the neighbouring jungle as well as the 2,484 units of the 18-block apartment since Tuesday evening.

"I can't comment further as we have just found the victim's body and we are currently in the process of investigating the surrounding area where the body was found," he told Berita Harian.
