Sarawak Boy Dies From Electric Shock After Trying To Steal Cables At A Telecom Substation
Police have classified the case as sudden death.
Earlier this week, an 18-year-old boy was electrocuted to death at a telecommunication substation located in Kampung Senangeh, Sarawak
According to Samarahan district police chief DSP Brodie Brangka, authorities were alerted by the public about the discovery of the victim's body at the telecommunication substation site.
"We found a fully-clothed man lying by the fence of the substation site," he was quoted as saying.
Police believe that the victim was stealing cables at the site
In a statement yesterday, Brodie said that the boy was trying to cut cables.
"Checks found that the local boy has five previous criminal records related to burglary, theft, and drugs," he added.
Police have since classified the case as sudden death.
The victim's body was taken to the Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) for an autopsy.
