#Budget2024: We May Get More Concerts In M'sia As Govt Reduces Entertainment Tax
The Finance Minister proposes that local artistes be exempt from paying entertainment tax for their live performances.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government is currently planning to reduce the 25% entertainment tax for performances held in Kuala Lumpur
During the tabling of Budget 2024 today, 13 October, Anwar, who is also the current Prime Minister of Malaysia, proposed that local artistes be exempt from paying entertainment tax for their live shows.
As for international artistes, as well as performances like musicals, film screenings, and sporting events, they will only be charged a 10% entertainment tax.
In addition, theme parks and recreational parks will only be charged a 5% tax
"I would like to take this chance to urge the state government to consider reducing the entertainment tax that can help support the growth of local creatives, while boosting the tourism activities inside the country," said Anwar.
