MP for Lembah Pantai Nurul Izzah has started a donation drive for the victims of the blaze at the 17-storey PKNS flats in Kampung Kerinchi. The fire victims are being housed in the Lembah Pantai Community Centre.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel were mobilised to the scene at around 5pm and all the victims were evacuated to safety.
"We received a call at around 4.40 pm where the fire department has already informed about this incident. The follow-up of the information will be announced later" said Deputy Superintendent Azahar Yaacob, who was at the scene.

It is believed the fire started from a cooking accident and nobody was injured. A total of 13 fire engines waded through traffic congestions along the Federal Highway to reach Kg Kerinchi, and the fire was extinguished by about 6.20pm.
