Cabinet Ministers Are Donating 2 Months Of Their Salary To The National COVID-19 Fund

The fund now stands at a total of RM8.49 million.

The Malaysian Cabinet, including the Prime Minister, ministers, and deputy ministers, will be donating two months' salary each to the national COVID-19 fund

According to a press release posted by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Facebook, his Office made the decision today, 26 March, to prove the government's determination to help those whose lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

They will be donating to the national fund that was launched on 11 March, which was also a government effort.

Up to yesterday, 25 March, the funds received, including the government's grant, totalled RM8,493,103.48.

It was not specified how much they each donated

However, according to Malay Mail, a federal minister's basic salary is about RM14,907.20 monthly, while the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister's monthly basic salaries total RM22,826.65 and RM18,168.15 respectively.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin chaired his first Cabinet meeting at Perdana Putra in Putrajaya on 11 March.
