Courier Van Delivering 11.11 Sales Parcels Catches On Fire In Cheras
The amount of losses caused by the incident has yet to be determined.
A five-tonne van believed to be transporting 11.11 sales parcels was destroyed in a fire near D'Alamanda condominium at Jalan Impian Cheras, Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, 17 November
The van was on the way from a supplier to a collection operations centre when the back part of the courier vehicle went up in flames.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) senior operations commander Rozi Jusoh said his team received an emergency call regarding the incident at 2.34pm
"As soon as they arrived at the scene, the Bomba found the fire was still raging at the back of the five-tonne lorry," Rozi told Kosmo!.
The firefighters successfully extinguished the fire within 15 minutes but found that 60% of the vehicles' contents were already destroyed by the blaze.
There were no victims reported and the cause of the incident is still under investigation
In initial investigations, Rozi said the lorry driver had smelled something burning when he opened the door to place some items in the back when the fire suddenly began.
"Most of the items in the truck were flammable, which caused the fire to spread quickly," added the Bomba officer.
Meanwhile, the amount of losses caused by the incident has yet to be determined.
"Among the destroyed items were clothes, children's toys, and others," he said.
