The Ministry of Health (MOH) was presented with an award for being an 'Excellent Healthcare Service Provider' to honour frontliners' dedication and commitment to those affected by COVID-19.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah's role in Malaysia's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic has now been recognised by the World Brands Foundation (TWBF), which awarded him with the BrandLaureate 'Outstanding Brand Leadership Award 2020'
In a statement issued on Friday, 17 July, the BrandLaureate Awards said that the Brandlaureate Outstanding Brand Leadership award is in recognition of his heroic role in fighting COVID-19.
Dr Noor Hisham was presented with the award at his office at the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Putrajaya at 2.30pm yesterday, during which the organisation's chairman, president, and CEO were present.
"Having risen to prominence since the COVID-19 pandemic escalated in Malaysia in March 2020, Dr Noor Hisham's commitment in fighting the pandemic has given Malaysians hope and healing," it said.
Acknowledging the Health D-G's leadership, it said that Malaysia has successfully flattened the curve and is now seen as a champion in containing the COVID-19 pandemic in the eyes of the world.
Meanwhile, MOH was presented with an award for being an 'Excellent Healthcare Service Provider' to honour frontliners who have been at the forefront providing the necessary assistance to the patients
"During this pandemic, the Ministry Of Health, through its frontliners has been at the forefront providing the necessary assistance and support to the patients and caregivers," the statement said.
"Their dedication and commitment have enabled them to provide the best possible treatment and relief to all those that are affected by COVID-19. Without their sacrifice and unrelenting tenacity, Malaysia would not have been able to flatten the curve and reduce the number of infections and death tolls."
It said that MOH and its frontliners have been admirable in providing great comfort and security to those affected and also to all Malaysians, shouldering the dangers and risks of being exposed to COVID-19.
Following the event, Dr Noor Hisham took to his Facebook page, which he has actively used to keep Malaysians informed about the COVID-19 situation, to convey his and the ministry's deepest gratitude
He said that "both of these awards reflect the dedication, commitment, sacrifice, and resilience" of every individual in MOH and various agencies to provide the best healthcare service.
"Never before have we seen the whole of government machinery and society work seamlessly hand in hand for the sake of public health, thus making the tagline 'every sector is a health sector' a reality which others can now emulate," Dr Noor Hisham said while thanking the people for the patience and cooperation they have given to the frontliners and authorities.
