The city’s famous nasi kandar stall at the Yong Suan Coffeeshop in Jalan Yang Kalsom here which health authorities ordered to close last week has resumed operations.

Its manager Mohd Nihmathullah Syed Mustaffah, 49, said the authorities had inspected the outlet on Saturday for cleanliness and said they could resume business the following week.

Facebook user who claimed there was 'najis' in the Nasi Ganja apologised

The woman who accused Ipoh’s famous nasi kandar stall of using faeces in their food preparation on a social network website has made a public apology.

Ze Aida, the Facebook user who made the accusation, wrote that the “The Vanggey issue is merely a false rumour and has been misinterpreted. I hope everyone would stop worsening the situation and tarnishing the business’ reputation."

The Restaurant Was Shut Down Because The Premises Were "Unclean And Unhygienic"

The joint-operation, which started at 5pm Thursday, involved the Ipoh City Council, Kinta District Health Office, Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism office and Immigration department.

Perak Health Director Datuk Dr Nordiyanah Hassan confirmed the closure and said the order was issued under Section 11 of the Food Act 1983 as the premises was deemed to be unclean and unhygienic.

Many were shocked with disbelief when a Facebook status went viral. It came from a Facebook account named Ze Aida, who posted:

'Police has just raided Vanggey (nasi ganja) restaurant and found human faeces in food containers believed to be used as coating for pots and pans in black magic practice. No wonder the restaurant is never short of customers. What's so great about it.. .'

Although it did not state which restaurant was raided, this rumour caused distress to the owner, who made a police report and said it is a malicious slander. In the report, the complainant, Ahamed Azlanshah Saiful Jaafar Sadik said the rumour will cause loss to his business and wants the police to investigate.
