GEORGE TOWN- A Form Three school prefect from a school in Sungai Nibong sustained a broken bone beneath the eye and serious injuries to his head after he was allegedly attacked by two Form Five students over a tie.

It is learnt the assault took place during recess at 11am. The victim, who was on duty near the canteen, stopped his senior and asked him to wear his necktie properly.

The spokesman said the boy's mother brought her son to Penang Hospital to treat his bruises and found that he suffered a fracture on the left cheekbone.

The victim’s father, Mokhtar Shafardin, 58, hoped his son would have a speedy recovery.
“I received a call from the school informing me my son was injured,” said the technician.
“I was at work on the mainland and called my wife to check on his condition.”
Mokhtar wants the matter to be settled amicably soon.
“The parents of the two boys who allegedly beat up my son have apologised when we met yesterday, and they even visited him at the ward,” he said.

George Town district police chief ACP Gan Kong Meng said a police report has been lodged. Meanwhile, state education director Datuk Ahmad Tarmizi Kamaruddin said the incident was serious and the department would meet with the school’s student affairs department to sort the matter out.
