French Woman Loses RM3.8 Million In Brad Pitt Love Scam
She believed she was in a romantic relationship with the Hollywood star, leading her to divorce her husband and transfer RM3.8 million.
A French woman revealed on a TV programme that she was scammed into believing she was in a relationship with Hollywood star Brad Pitt
Anne, 53, divorced her husband and suffered a loss of 830,000 euros (RM3.8 million) after transferring money to a fake "Brad Pitt", according to the Malay Mail.
For a year and a half, she thought she was communicating with the 61-year-old actor. However, she realised she had been scammed when news of his real-life relationship with girlfriend Ines de Ramon emerged.
The scammer used fake social media and Whatsapp accounts, as well as AI-generated images, to send Anne what appeared to be selfies and messages from Pitt
The fake Pitt persuaded Anne to send money by claiming he needed funds for a kidney treatment, and that his bank accounts were frozen due to divorce proceedings with his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie.
The incident has subjected Anne to harassment, prompting the channel to withdraw the story
"For the protection of victims, we have decided to withdraw it from our platforms," said TF1 presenter Harry Roselmack on his X account.
At the time of the broadcast, Anne was reported to be suffering from severe depression and was receiving hospital treatment.
