Teacher Calls Fire & Rescue Team To Help SPM Student Stranded By The Flood In Sarawak
Teachers are the best.
A school teacher from SMK Kapit 2 in Sarawak contacted the Fire and Rescue Department to ensure a student wouldn't miss their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) exams
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Centre stated that they received a call from the teacher at 10.34pm yesterday, 14 January, Bernama reported.
The student was unable to leave their longhouse in Sungai Sibau, Jalan Bukit Goram, due to severe flooding. The water levels in the area had risen over 1.2m.
A rescue team from the Kapit Fire and Rescue Station was immediately dispatched, utilising a fiberglass boat provided by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee
Navigating the floodwaters, the firefighters successfully reached the student's home and safely transported them to the SMK Kapit 2 dormitory, where they could rest before taking their exams today, 15 January.
While the floodwaters around the longhouse remain high, the elevated structure ensures the safety of residents. The Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that the situation is under control and poses no immediate danger.
