Kuantan Teachers Take 47 Kindergarteners On A Flight For Field Trip To Kuala Lumpur
Where was this field trip when I was younger?
A video of a group of kindergarten teachers and students travelling by air for a field trip has gone viral on TikTok
Teacher Azni A.R. Azizan posted the adorable two-minute video, documenting a special field trip with her kindergarten students on Monday, 18 November.
Azni and 12 other teachers accompanied 47 students, aged 3 to 6, from Muslim Juniors Prima Pintar and Muslim Juniors Prima Jaya on an approximately one-hour flight from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, the group rode trains to Petrosains, The Discovery Centre.
Their adventure began bright and early at 5.30am at Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in Kuantan
Speaking to SAYS, Azni said the check-in process for 60 people was a bit chaotic (with a few pre-flight tantrums!), but the children were very well-behaved throughout the trip.
"The kids behaved better without their parents," she joked.
The children were skipping with excitement as they made their way towards the Malaysia Airlines plane. "On the way to Kuala Lumpur, they didn't sleep at all, even though they had woken up at 4am for the flight," Azni recounted.
Beyond the thrill of flying, Azni shared that the trip aimed to introduce the children to different modes of transportation, in line with the school's November theme.
Earlier this year, the class visited an army camp by bus, so this time, the teachers wanted the children to experience the wonders of aeroplanes and trains. After landing at the airport, the group rode the ERL and LRT in Kuala Lumpur.
"Other passengers stood up to offer their seats for the kids," she said.
The total cost of the trip, including return flights, ERL and LRT fares, Petrosains admission, and meals, was estimated to be between RM300 and RM350 per child. However, the teachers subsidised the cost, collecting only RM180 from each family.
Despite flying with such a big group for the first time, Azni said the trip was a resounding success
The teacher also expressed her gratitude to the supportive parents and the helpful Malaysia Airlines staff, whose assistance made the journey smooth and memorable.
And safe to say, the children had a wonderful time, with the exhausted little travellers falling asleep soundly on the flight back to Kuantan.
"It was so hard to wake the kids up," Azni said.
She and her fellow teachers are already excited to plan more adventures with their students, armed with valuable experience from this first flight. "We know what we should do next time and the preparations we need to make beforehand."
The heartwarming video has captured the hearts of viewers with the children's infectious enthusiasm
"The children were so excited to go up the plane. When they return home, they'll have so much to share with their parents," one netizen said.
Many netizens praised the teachers for organising such a unique and educational experience for the students, with one user writing, "It's great that kindergarten students and teachers can manage long-distance trips like this. Everyone was excited from the pilot and ground staff to the children."
The video has garnered over 222,000 views and more than 10,000 likes on TikTok.
