Cheerful, Young Indonesian Copywriter Mita Diran Dies After Overworking Herself
A young, beautiful copywriter, Mita Diran, was so passionate with her work in an advertising agency that she did not realise she was sacrificing her health.

The recent death of Indonesian copywriter Mita Diran serves as a reminder on the potential dangers of consuming a mixture of energy drinks and alcohol to stay awake for extended periods of time.
PAS central committee member Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, who holds a doctorate in toxicology, explained that combining the two substances could lead to a potential overdose due to a perceived “cancelling effect” when energy drinks, containing caffeine (a stimulant), was consumed together with alcohol (a depressant).
“The stimulant masks the toxicity of the depressant and a person may not be aware that they have reached their physical limit,” Dzulkefly told theantdaily.
Stressing that only a detailed autopsy and toxicology test could determine Mita’s actual cause of death and other contributing factors, Dzulkefly said the mixture of caffeine and alcohol could potentially trigger a fatal cardiac arrest due to the effect of stimulants on the nervous system.

mumbrella.asia“Would it be too much to ask for at least the agency heads of the main networks in Asia to get together and agree to have some form of policy ensuring that these work practices are seen to be in violation of their own corporate/human resource guidelines – as I am sure they MUST be, already,” he said.
