One of the biggest grouches students have about entering Form Six is the fact that they still have to don a school uniform while their friends entering college are free from the clutches of pinafores and green pants

Calm down, there are still some rules. We can't have students running around the school halls looking like Lady Gaga.

For guys, you can wear light-coloured shirts and slacks of any colour. Nothing too funky, too striking, no floral nor bright colours. In fact, just stick to plain, striped and checked patterns. Oh, and make sure your shirt is tucked in.

You slacks should be ankle-length and should not be tight. You can wear a belt, but the buckles should not exceed 5cm.

Ladies can have more fun with the choice of baju kurung, long pants and two or three-piece pant suits. They can also wear sleeved-blouses and maxi dresses.

Skirts can be no shorter than the knee, but no t-shirts, jeans, cargo pants, shorts, leggings, or anything tight in general.

Also, no denim or lycra material for both male and female students

Guys are required to wear shoes and socks while ladies can only wear shoes that cover their feet. Leave your slippers, clogs and sandals at home.

During outdoor activities, students may wear long pants or track bottoms paired with short or long sleeved t-shirts. However, the t-shirts should not have any political, violent, vulgar or negative images.

By the way, this is the dress code manual the Education Ministry came up with

If all this is too confusing and too much to remember, you can always just go back to wearing your school uniform

Have a great term guys!
