Here's What Oksana Voevodina's Father Has To Say About Sultan Muhammad V
Oksana's father, Andrey Gorbatenko, recently spoke to pro-Kremlin newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda about the Sultan.
Pro-Kremlin newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda (KP) reported on 7 January that the father of Russian beauty queen Oksana Voevodina, Andrey Gorbatenko recently shared his thoughts on Sultan Muhammad V
Andrey, an Associate Professor with the Traumatology and Orthopaedics Department of Rostov State Medical University, told KP that he met Sultan Muhammad V in spring 2017.
"I work at the university... (and) I have my own medical centres," Andrey said.
"I get up at six in the morning, I fall asleep at 12 midnight, like a soldier," the traumatologist added.
The doctor had nothing but praise for Sultan Muhammad V, who resigned as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on 6 January
"One thing I'll say for sure as a doctor, when I first saw him (Sultan Muhammad V), I subconsciously became calm," Andrey told KP.
"I immediately felt that Oksana would be fine with him," the traumatologist added.
Andrey further complimented the Sultan on the way he carried himself.
"As for royal mannerisms, I didn't notice them in him (the Sultan)," Andrey said.
"He is a wonderful person, and we communicate in English. He seems intelligent and educated. Therefore, I am very happy for Oksana," the doctor added.
In a separate interview with KP published in November 2018, Andrey stressed that he had no doubts about the character of Sultan Muhammad V.
"I've known him (the Sultan) for a year and a half. If I had even the slightest doubts about his decency, I would not have approved my daughter's choice," Andrey said.
The father of Oksana Voevodina, who reportedly married Sultan Muhammad V in November 2018, also commented on his daughter's conversion to Islam
"When my daughter converted to Islam, I decided to take a closer look at this religion. I turned to my Muslim friends (for this)," Andrey was quoted as saying by KP.
"I want to say this (Islam) is a great religion, and Oksana was absolutely right in making this choice – the wife should always follow her husband," he added.
